In 1978, Pastor John Higgins with his wife Shauna and family moved to Phoenix and established Arizona's first Calvary Chapel. From this beginning, Pastor John's desire to serve God was instrumental in starting Calvary Chapels not only in the Phoenix area but throughout Arizona.

In 1996 Calvary Chapel Tri City celebrated the purchase of their church property which now provides a permanent location necessary for expansion and growth.

May 11, 2007 marks the 30th anniversary of the first Calvary Chapel Pastor John started in South Phoenix. On May 17, 2007 Pastor John will be celebrating 41-years in the ministry! 13-Calvary Chapels have been planted out of the Tri City fellowship. There are now more than 31 Calvary Chapels in Arizona.
